ABOUT COLD WAR PATRIOTS

ABOUT US

As a community resource and advocacy membership organization, Cold War Patriots (CWP) helps nuclear weapons and uranium workers and their families get the recognition, monetary compensation and health care they have earned.

Since 1942, the U.S. government estimates that more than 1,000,000 Americans have worked to create and maintain our nation’s nuclear deterrent. In the process, many people became sick because they had exposure to radiation or toxic substances. CWP offers personal assistance for workers and survivors, whether or not you are sick, to navigate complex government programs to file for cash compensation and health benefits.

Our experts help nuclear weapons and uranium workers and their families every day by answering questions, providing resources and connecting them to people with similar circumstances. We also help workers get in touch with the information and resources they need to navigate the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) and the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).

History

History of Cold War Patriots

A small group of dedicated individuals from Professional Case Management (PCM) formed Cold War Patriots (CWP) in the spring of 2008, advised by the CWP Advisory Committee. As the leading home-health agency serving this group, PCM recognized a need to bring together advocates and nuclear weapons workers from throughout the country to fight for their benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA).

National Day of Remembrance

The National Day of Remembrance for nuclear weapons and uranium workers honors and recognizes the men and women who enhanced our nation’s security. These are the people who worked in nuclear weapons complexes during the Manhattan project through the Cold War and into today.

Quilt

History of the Quilt

This spectacular quilt took over a year to make. It was a labor of love that recognizes people who proudly served their country. Each quilt square includes the name of a former worker, the years they served, the name of the facility where they worked, or someone related to the nuclear weapons and uranium industries.

Help Center

Cold War Patriots Help Center

The Cold War Patriots Help Center helps nuclear weapons and uranium workers navigate programs related to the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) and the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). Many of our representatives are former workers themselves, and understand personally the issues that you may face.
